Academics at Amaltas Vidyalaya, Nursery to Class XII
We teach the CBSE curriculum in the four stages of the National Education Policy 2020. The aim is simple: children who read widely, think clearly and are not afraid of a question.

How teaching changes, stage by stage
Foundational
- Learning through play, stories and rhymes
- Phonics in English, varnamala in Hindi
- No homework until Class I
Preparatory
- A library period every week
- EVS projects in the school garden
- Short, daily reading at home
Middle
- Subject teachers for each subject
- Third language: Sanskrit or Urdu
- Coding and lab work each week
Secondary
- CBSE board syllabus and practicals
- Careers guidance from Class IX
- Stream choice in Class XI
Three streams after Class X
Students choose after talking with their teachers and a careers counsellor, not only by marks.
Science
Physics, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Biology, with Computer Science or Physical Education as the fifth subject.
Commerce
Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics, with Mathematics or Informatics Practices.
Humanities
History, Political Science and Economics, with Geography or Psychology.
Streams and subject combinations depend on the session and seats. The school confirms them after Class X results.
Assessment and homework
Pre-primary children keep a portfolio of their work instead of sitting tests. From Class I there are short periodic tests and one term-end assessment, and from Class IX we follow the CBSE pattern for the boards.
Parents meet teachers once a term and can ask for a meeting at any time through the school diary or WhatsApp.
- Nursery to UKG: no homework, a library book to share at home
- Classes I and II: ten minutes of reading
- Classes III to V: up to thirty minutes
- Classes VI to VIII: up to an hour
- Classes IX to XII: a weekly plan agreed with each class
